原產地 印度、印尼、菲律賓
形態描述或特徵 樹幹直立有明顯瘤刺；側枝輪生作水平方向開展；掌狀複葉，葉柄很長；花朵大型，橙黃或橙紅色；果實為蒴果，成熟後會自動裂開，裡頭充滿了棉絮，棉毛可做枕頭、棉被等填充材料。
木棉外觀多變化：春天時，一樹橙紅；夏天綠葉成蔭；秋天枝葉蕭瑟；冬天禿枝寒樹，四季展現不同的風情。 花桔紅色，3～4月開花，先開花後長葉，樹形具陽剛之美。
